Dr. Hal Gin is a member of the Chabot-Las Positas Community College District Board of Trustees representing portions of Hayward and San Lorenzo. When he was first appointed in 2005, he was the first API trustee to serve on the seven-member board since the college district was created in 1961. In 2022, he was re-elected to his fifth four-year term with 18 years of service on the board. Dr. Gin earned a doctorate in education and organizational leadership, a master’s degree in public administration and a bachelor’s degree in sociology and social services. He has devoted more than three decades as an educator and administrator at California State University, East Bay. He is actively involved in numerous board leadership positions in the community including Lions Clubs International; Past Presiding President of the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association; President of the Hoy-Sun Ning Yung Benevolent Association; Superintendent of the Central Chinese High School; Board of Director of the Friends of Chabot College Foundation; Alameda County Board of Zoning Adjustments; Chair of the Alameda County Planning Commission; and Executive Vice President of the Oakland Chinatown Improvement Council, a community benefits district.
